As Christians we find ourselves in a kind of spiritual battle every day. In warfare, battles are fought on different fronts for different reasons and with different intensities. The same is true of spiritual warfare. Our spiritual battles and wars are real even if we cannot physically see the attacker. There are forces, both angelic and demonic, that are active around us. There is evil that we fight in our spiritual warfare. Jesus told us to pray for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. He told us that the gates of hell will not overpower the work that God has in store for us since His will is being carried out in our lives.
We must understand that this is not the fight against Flesh and blood, but against powers in the heavenly places. As we begin to receive a revelation about spiritual warfare, we will begin to understand how the enemy works against us in the physical realm. The battles of spiritual warfare are intense when a person chooses to accept Jesus as their Savior. The enemy will attack from all sides, hoping to dissuade the person from giving their heart fully to Jesus. He will use circumstances, events, people, things and even doubts in their minds to steal their hearts back to his ways. A prayer for the spiritual battle
Jesus, sometimes I can face the heaviness almost feeling the mounting pressure and ominous presence of darkness around me. I realize my enemy is at work again. Whether he’s trying to keep me from getting distracted, tempted to give up, or taking my eyes off you, he’s always hanging around.
I need your supernatural power, Lord, to grow strong stay and don’t give up. Physical violence won’t help because you said the weapons of our warfare are different than those of this world. As believers we are powerful and can destroy strongholds and lies. These supernatural weapons come from you. By your precious name and blood, Jesus, I ask you to confuse Satan and stop his attempts to eliminate me and my influence. Help me not to be discouraged or give in when the trying times come.
When I am weary and weak, You are strong, Lord, and You are my only source of help. I can’t fight without you Teach me to pray and trust You to break down these strongholds that hold me or others helpless. Protect me from the isolation that leaves me unprotected and vulnerable. I believe you destroyed the power of my enemy through your death and resurrection. But like a bad penny, my enemy keeps popping up, whispering lies, twisting the truth, and trying to inflate my selfish pride. He never gives up.
I pronounce the devil and his demons liars today, Lord. By the power of your precious name and blood, I affirm your word and the truth that you are within me and that you are greater than my enemy who wants to rule the world. You, your word and prayer, Lord, are my secret weapons. I belong to you, and that fills me with a strong trust in God. I want to constantly clothe myself in the spiritual armor that you give me. Help me to use it also to protect others from Satan’s fiery arrows. No one and nothing can snatch me from Your hand.
Increase my faith, Lord. Forgive me my sins so that I may be cleansed in your righteousness. Empower me to face and fight the spiritual battles in my life and in our world. Give me your wisdom and insight so I won’t be taken by surprise. Together Lord we shall win, for in truth You have already done so.
In the mighty name of Jesus, before whom every knee should bow, amen!
A prayer for protection from evil
Lord Jesus, evil is like this a harsh word, and yet your word often uses it to describe the opposite of good. Though we are all capable of sin, I ask your protection from those who call good evil and evil good. Protect us from those who go against justice and from those who twist the truth into lies to fulfill their evil intentions. May your angels always hover nearby to eradicate fear and fight against dark, spiritual forces we cannot see. Help us to put down all ideas and thoughts that our enemy tries to use to rise up against you.
You dealt a fatal blow to our spiritual enemy on Calvary when you died for us on the cross and rose from the cross third day. While evil still roams, the power of your name and blood rises to conquer us and bring us victory over every evil plotted against us. While malicious acts can disturb us, we use the armor of God you have given us to stand firm. You will bring justice in due course for all the harm and needless violence directed against your children. Until then, we remain in your presence, aligned with your purpose, and we look to you as our supreme commander and protector. Help us to escape temptation and deliver us from evil, Lord. You are the powerful one, the one who will ultimately bring all evil to light. With you, Jesus, we are safe. Amen.
A prayer for protection from spiritual attack
We know that the enemy would not fight us so hard if we did not make a difference for your kingdom. He wouldn’t be trying so hard to stop us if he didn’t think you had so much good in store. Remind us today, Lord, that the fight is yours and whatever we have can be struck down with one blow by your mighty hand. Please help us to trust you more and stop wasting time spinning our wheels or fighting in our strength. Forgive us for the times we failed to keep our eyes and hearts on you, for the days we forgot to come to you first. Fill us with the power of your Holy Spirit. Fill us with your wisdom and discernment to make us aware of the enemy’s traps so that we may stand strong against his machinations. The Prayer of a Warrior in the Armor of God
Heavenly Father, your warrior is preparing for battle. Today I claim victory over Satan by putting on the full armor of God!
I put on the girdle of truth! May I stand firm in the truth of your word, as is I will not be a victim of Satan’s lies.
I put on the breastplate of righteousness! May he keep my heart from evil, that I may remain pure and holy, protected beneath the blood of Jesus Christ.
I put on the shoes of peace! May I stand firm in the good news of the gospel that your peace may shine through me and be a light for me all is encounter.
I take the shield of faith! May I recognize Satan’s fiery darts of doubt, denial and deceit, lest I be vulnerable to spiritual defeat.
I put on the helmet of salvation! May I turn my thoughts to you lest Satan hold my thoughts.
I take the sword of the Spirit! May the two-edged sword of Your word be ready in my hands that I may unmask temptation g the words of Satan.

A prayer to resist the attacks of the devil
Lord Jesus, I thank you that you have already achieved victory. Your death on the cross seals Satan’s fate. Thank you for equipping me and enabling me to withstand the devil’s onslaught. Thank you for your word that can expose my own sinful desires and refute the devil’s lies. Help me to stand firm, rooted in faith, protected by your armor and dependent on your grace.
